Crohns, Yeast, Antibiotics, A Dangerous Connection
Candida Albicans ( yeast infections ), can be very serious, more than most people realize, even doctors. Yeast infection can be very complicated even in the beginning stages, because they set up a foundation of sickness and more disease.
Yeast (candida) is a fungus that inhibits our intestinal tract as well as other parts of our bodies.
These fungus, and other bacteria are a normal part of our existence, and is necessary. This fungus feeds on undigested foods in our intestines.
Yeast co-exist with the beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract in small, safe amounts and is kept in check by the beneficial flora, but and overgrowth of yeast can cause some very serious problems, like systemic yeast infections, crohns disease, other autoimmune diseases or symptoms, and even death
.
Crohns and Yeast
Scientist are now discovering that yeast has caused more damage than they first thought, and they have also found a connection of dangerous yeast infection with certain antibiotic use. This yeast, antibiotic connection has been attributed by some scientist and researchers with, Crohns Disease, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Ulcerative Colitis and some Cancers.
Antibiotics have been a wonderful tool in our battle against germs, bacteria and other pathogens. Antibiotics have been especially in the early stages of their existence, been called the wonder drug. On the other hand I’m sure all of us have seen articles even in the prestigious medical journals like “The Journal of The American Medical Association” that doctors have over used, and abused this tool and through over use, for colds , flu, ear infections and the granddaddy of all, the injections and feeding of antibiotics to our food supply, ( 70 % of all the antibiotics manufactured are given to the animals that we consume ), have created the very well known super bugs mrsa, ( Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ), or vrsa ( Vancomycin resistant staphylococcus aureus ), and the antibiotics have little or no effect on these super bugs.
The danger of antibiotics
If we have any knowledge, even the rudimentary knowledge of how the body works and defends itself , then the danger of reckless use of antibiotics will be apparent.
Antibiotics ( against life ), destroy bacteria that can cause illness and infection, but antibiotics also destroy other bacteria the good bacteria ( intestinal flora ) which is necessary for health, and is part of our immune system which 70%-80% is located in our gut ( intestines ).
When antibiotics are taken they do what they were designed to do, kill bacteria, but it doesn’t discriminate between good bacteria or bad bacteria, and once the good bacteria is weakened or destroyed the immune system can’t do what it was designed to do, to protect us from germs and other pathogens and to keep the yeast in check.
Once the yeast is left unchecked, it grows exponentially and once it reaches a critical mass it changes it’s shape from round and circular to pointy and spike like, in search of food. The newly shaped yeast ( candida ) in search of food pokes microscopic holes into the intestines ( diverticulitis ), and releases it’s toxins into the blood stream ( systemic yeast infection ). Crohns has been identified by some scientist as the result of unchecked yeast overgrowth. Yeast overgrowth causes inflammation, a symptom of crohns, ulcerative colitis, Irritable bowel disease.
A note here
We all get cancer cells throughout our life time, but our immune system ( the good bacteria ) recognizes the cancer cells as invaders
and destroys them. What happens when our immune system is impaired by yeast overgrowth made possible by antibiotic use? Cancer cells grow and multiply mostly unimpeded. I will post later on the yeast cancer connection. ( Crohns Help Now ).
